Dressage  Training

Katie is not only an accomplished rider herself, but she is truly a student of the craft. Having studied the biomechanics of riding for years, Katie can often bring fresh light to a subject that is just not “clicking” for her riders.

Dressage Training

Dressage literally means “training” in French, and its purpose is to develop the horse’s natural athletic ability and willingness to work making him calm, supple and attentive to his rider. At LAEM we use dressage to evolve and showcase the natural talent of the horse. This requires precise riding and body control. In the beginning we emphasize body awareness and control. You will learn how your body can affect the natural talent of your horse. As with any partnership, it is a 50-50 effort in learning about your body and conveying that discipline to training your horse.
We consider each horse and rider as unique and develop a training program specifically for their needs. Katie often works with jumpers, and encourages her riders to work on strength and mechanics out of the saddle as well through physio clinics and partnerships. Teaching has become a real passion for Katie. She loves to witness the transformation when a rider truly “gets” a training concept and has that “ah ha” moment in the saddle.
