LAEM Training Method

Our Method

Training at L’Acadiane Equine Management is based on cross training, which has proven to be essential in the well-roundedness and confidence of its horses.

Vincent and Katie work together throughout the training process. They both agree that cross training adds depth to the horses training. All the dressage horses spend time with Vincent in the woods and Vincent’s jumpers spend time with Katie perfecting their flat work. Both Katie and Vincent want their horses to be well rounded and confident in themselves.

LAEM Dressage Training

Dressage Training

Dressage is a French term meaning “training” and its purpose is to develop the horse’s natural athletic ability and willingness to work making him calm, supple and attentive to his rider.

Here at LAEM we use dressage to evolve and showcase the natural talent of the horse. This requires precise riding and body control. In the beginning we emphasize body awareness and control. You will learn how your body can affect the natural talent of your horse. As with any partnership, it is a 50-50 effort in learning about your body and conveying that discipline to training your horse. Here at LAEM we consider each horse and rider as unique and develop a training program specifically for their needs.

Show Jumper Training

What pole vaulting, high jump and hurdles are to track and field, jumping is to equestrian sport.

The goal for the Jumper is to negotiate a series of obstacles with an emphasis on the height and width of the jump, and to achieve the course within a certain amount of time. The jumping course tests a horse’s athleticism, agility and tractability while simultaneously testing a rider’s precision, accuracy and responsiveness. Perhaps most importantly, as with any equine sport, the partnership between horse and rider is the most notable factor in success.
